Industry leaders and local members gathered at The Bailey to “Connect through Conversation” and share their experiences and ideas to create and rebuild a more regenerative, responsible tourism industry with sustainability at its heart.
Speakers on the panel included Natalia Rosa (Big Ambitions), Julie Cheetham (Weeva), Monika Iuel (Wesgro) Shama Nathoo, (Universal Accessibility Hub) and Ingram Casey (Escape+Explore).
As part of its vision, ATTA® has renewed its commitment to champion sustainability in the industry, and with that in mind, has partnered with the sustainability management platform Weeva, built by the tourism industry, for the tourism industry.
With sustainability high on the global agenda right now, Weeva is delighted to be partnering with the ATTA® as its preferred sustainability management system. Having access to Weeva at a special rate will allow ATTA® members to measure, manage and report on their operational impact more effectively – and collectively build business resilience in our sector” said Julie Cheetham, Managing Director of Weeva.Weeva is a digital system that makes operational efficiency and resilience more accessible and achievable. Framed on The Long Run’s 4C framework, (Conservation, Culture, Community and Commerce), Weeva enables independent hotels, lodges, BnBs, and other hospitality providers to monitor, manage, and improve their holistic business performance through a comprehensive suite of digital tools, educational guides, tasks and processes that the whole team can get involved in, from HR to housekeeping. Data-led storytelling helps avoid the greenwash and spotlights responsible tourism as a force for good. Weeva aims to be disruptive, inclusive and affordable – making data-led sustainability and reporting accessible to all. When used consistently, Weeva can save hotels and lodges time, money and resources, assist with meeting certification requirements (say goodbye to endless excel sheets) – and ultimately help protect people and the planet. Weeva licences start from just $750 per annum for small properties – less than the cost of hiring a sustainability officer for one day. ATTA® members qualify for a discount off the annual cost of using Weeva. A product demo and free 21-day trial are available on weeva.earth.
“ATTA® is thrilled to partner with Weeva to help empower members, strengthening the value of membership, by adding the tools needed to begin or develop their existing sustainability journey. ATTA®’s renewed commitment to supporting its members by championing sustainability through its digital and event platforms, mirrors the Weeva vision to transform tourism one sustainable business at a time” said Jon Danks, CEO of ATTA®.Founded in 1993, the African Travel and Tourism Association (ATTA®) is the pan-Africa travel industry membership association, that has powered worldwide tourism to Africa for nearly thirty years. ATTA® is widely regarded as the trusted authority on tourism to Africa and its members receive unrivalled benefits via its digital and event platforms plus market-access to ATTA® member products and suppliers, including hotels, luxury safari lodges, DMC’s, airlines, community projects and media. Members are also encouraged to sign the ATTA® Charter for Sustainable Tourism
